Land-for-jobs scam shock: Court shuts door on Rabri Devi plea

Rabri Devi arrives at Delhi court after land-for-jobs scam transfer plea rejection

The land-for-jobs scam case saw a fresh jolt on Tuesday after a Delhi court rejected former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s request to transfer the case. The ruling keeps the land-for-jobs scam proceedings before the same judge at Rouse Avenue Court.

Rabri Devi had asked the court to move her case to another judge. She said she had lost confidence in getting a fair hearing. Her lawyers claimed the court’s past observations raised doubts in her mind.

The Central Bureau of Investigation strongly opposed the plea. The agency argued that the request aimed to delay the trial. It also said courts cannot be pressured by such applications.

After hearing both sides, the court dismissed the plea. The judge said there was no valid reason to transfer the case. The trial will continue as scheduled.

The case links to alleged irregular appointments in Indian Railways during the tenure of Lalu Prasad Yadav as Union Railway Minister. Investigators allege that land parcels were taken from candidates or their families in return for jobs.

Several members of the Lalu family face charges in this case. The latest order marks another legal setback for them.
