Sometimes, fate steps in at the most unexpected moments. Ajay Singh, a hotelier from Manali, narrowly escaped Delhi’s deadly Red Fort blast because of one last-minute choice.
On Monday evening, a powerful explosion shook the area near Red Fort Metro Station around 6:52 pm. The blast killed nearly ten people and injured more than twenty. Just a minute before, Ajay had purchased his metro ticket at 6:51 pm — a decision that took him away from danger.
Ajay, Managing Director of Merakii Hospitality, shared his experience on LinkedIn. “I was walking toward Red Fort to take a cab home but suddenly changed my mind,” he wrote. “Had I not switched to the metro, I would’ve been right around the blast site.”
Investigators revealed that the explosion came from a Hyundai i20 parked near the metro station. The suspects, believed to be mishandling explosives, caused an accidental detonation. Three doctors from Al-Falah University in Faridabad have been detained for questioning.
Reflecting on his escape, Ajay said, “Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was karma. I just feel deeply grateful.”
His story reminds us how one small decision can change everything.
