The Local Body Polls in Telangana are likely to be conducted only after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Officials say the election schedule will be decided after the voter list revision process finishes across the state.
The Local Body Polls in Telangana cannot be announced immediately because authorities must first complete the SIR process. This exercise updates voter lists by verifying existing voters and adding new eligible voters. Booth Level Officers will visit households and collect enumeration forms as part of the verification process.
Officials explained that the SIR exercise involves several stages, including field verification, draft roll publication, and a period for claims and objections. After these steps, the final electoral rolls will be released.
Only after the final voter list becomes available will the election authorities begin preparations for civic polls. Political parties are also preparing for the process as the voter revision exercise progresses.
Once the SIR process concludes, the State Election Commission is expected to announce the schedule for local body elections.
