Lt Governor Reviews Leh Airport Terminal as Kavinder Gupta inspected the New Terminal Building at Kushok Bakula Rimpoche Airport in Leh. During the visit, the Lt Governor reviewed construction progress and checked how the team is using modern green technologies. Gupta praised the project team for adopting advanced innovations such as geothermal temperature control, large-scale solar integration, and eco-friendly architectural elements designed for Ladakh’s climate. He said the terminal will set a strong example for sustainable infrastructure in high-altitude regions.
He also noted that the upcoming terminal will improve passenger capacity and strengthen air connectivity. According to him, the design blends Ladakh’s cultural identity with world-class facilities through traditional motifs and region-inspired architecture.
Gupta stressed that the airport project supports Ladakh’s goal of becoming a carbon-neutral Union Territory. He added that the green features reflect a commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and high-quality public infrastructure.
During the inspection, he checked passenger amenities, safety systems, terminal layout, and airside works. He encouraged officials to maintain progress and ensure timely completion to meet rising travel needs.
Project Director A. Umashankar said the terminal is on track for completion by April–May 2026 and will feature aerobridges, automated systems, and expanded circulation areas.
