Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said West Bengal needs to get rid of what he called “maha jungle raj” under the Trinamool Congress. He made the remarks while virtually addressing a BJP rally in Nadia district.
PM Modi said Bihar had rejected “jungle raj” by giving a strong mandate to the NDA. He added that Bengal should now follow the same path. He claimed people across villages, towns, and localities were demanding change and calling for BJP rule.
The Prime Minister said hopes had risen after Bengal moved away from Left rule. He alleged that the TMC adopted the worst traits of the Left and weakened the state. He compared Bengal with Tripura and said BJP governance helped Tripura progress faster.
Heavy fog prevented Modi’s helicopter from landing at Taherpur. He addressed the rally by phone from Kolkata airport before leaving for Assam.
During his speech, Modi expressed grief over the deaths of three BJP workers hit by a train while travelling to the rally. He offered condolences to their families.
Modi also attacked the TMC over its opposition to the Special Intensive Revision process. He accused the party of protecting infiltrators and blocking development. He urged voters to give BJP a chance in the 2026 assembly elections.
The TMC strongly rejected Modi’s claims. Party leaders accused the BJP of politicising tragedies and blocking central funds meant for Bengal’s welfare and development.
