A man in his forties was arrested in West Sussex, England, for his role in a cyberattack that disrupted check-in systems at major European airports last week. He is on conditional bail while police continue investigating.

The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) called the arrest a positive step but said the investigation is still in its early stages. Paul Foster, head of the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit, said cybercrime remains a serious global threat. He added that the NCA works with partners worldwide to protect the public.

The attack hit aviation company Collins Aerospace, affecting passengers in London, Brussels, Berlin, and Dublin. Brussels Airport used iPads and laptops to check in travelers, while Berlin Brandenburg Airport handed out handwritten boarding passes.

Berlin’s airport warned that check-ins and boarding are still mostly manual. Passengers may face delays and cancellations as airports try alternative solutions to reduce the impact.

London Heathrow reported that most flights operate normally. Brussels Airport said limited disruptions may continue, but staff are working to restore smooth operations.
