Manohar Lal lauds AP’s progress in energy efficiency programmes
Union Minister Manohar Lal appreciates AP’s progress in energy efficiency programmes, describing the State as a strong performer in implementing climate-friendly initiatives. He said Andhra Pradesh had shown commitment through effective planning and execution.
Speaking at a review meeting, the Minister stressed the need for States to intensify climate mitigation efforts. He said climate challenges require coordinated action involving governments, industries, academic institutions, and citizens.
Mr. Manohar Lal underlined that policies alone would not deliver results. He said climate action cannot succeed without large-scale public participation and behavioural change at the grassroots level.
He urged States to promote energy-efficient technologies in households, industries, and public infrastructure. According to him, reduced energy consumption would lower costs while also cutting carbon emissions.
The Minister noted that Andhra Pradesh had made steady progress in areas such as efficient lighting, renewable energy adoption, and energy-saving programmes. He encouraged officials to scale up these initiatives further.
State officials briefed the Minister on ongoing schemes and future plans aimed at sustainability. They highlighted efforts to improve awareness and involve local communities.
Mr. Manohar Lal said the Centre would continue to support States through policy guidance and technical assistance. He added that collective responsibility remains key to achieving long-term climate goals.
