MATH Proposes Satellite Incubation Centre in Meghalaya to Boost AI Startups

MATH proposes Satellite Incubation Centre in Meghalaya to support AI startups and innovation.

The Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Technology Hub (MATH), based in T-Hub, Hyderabad, has proposed the launch of a Satellite Incubation Centre in Meghalaya to foster innovation in AI, ML, and Data Science. The initiative, in collaboration with Meghalaya’s IT&C Department, aims to accelerate local startups and enhance youth engagement in emerging technologies.

MATH serves as a Centre of Excellence (CoE), providing mentorship, technical support, industry linkages, and infrastructure access to help AI-driven startups scale and commercialize their solutions. The proposed Meghalaya centre will be a compact two-seater setup with essential resources, making it accessible and easy to manage.

Officials said the next step involves organising workshops in Meghalaya to connect with local IT/ITES startups and relevant stakeholders. Last month, MATH conducted a workshop titled ‘AI SPARK’ in Shillong, exploring collaboration opportunities and engaging with innovators from the region.

The collaboration seeks to empower students and youth by enhancing skills, practical competencies, and career pathways in AI and related technologies. By raising awareness and providing hands-on experience, the initiative aims to create a vibrant ecosystem for AI innovation in Meghalaya.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MATH and the IT&C Department is scheduled to be signed during the Regional AI Impact Conference in December, formalizing the partnership.

Experts believe the Satellite Incubation Centre will strengthen Meghalaya’s AI ecosystem, promote entrepreneurship, and help local startups gain access to mentorship and resources from one of India’s leading AI hubs. With this step, the state moves closer to becoming a key player in the AI and emerging technology landscape in Northeast India.
