The May Flower is a rare and fascinating plant that surprises people every year with its sudden bloom. The May Flower appears only once a year, usually during the hot month of May, and its bright red spherical blossom makes it stand out in gardens and natural landscapes.
This unique plant is also known as the Blood Lily or Football Lily. It grows from a bulb and belongs to the Amaryllidaceae plant family. When the blooming season arrives, the plant produces a large round flower head made of more than 100 tiny flowers. The bloom can grow up to 8–12 cm in size and looks like a bright red ball.
Interestingly, the leaves often disappear before the flower appears. For most of the year, the plant stays hidden underground, which makes its sudden bloom even more surprising.
Gardeners admire this plant for its dramatic appearance. The May Flower grows well in warm tropical climates and needs good sunlight. However, patience is required because it rewards gardeners with its beautiful bloom only once each year.
