Mining in Prakasam District is expected to generate about ₹220 crore for the Andhra Pradesh government this year. Officials believe the target is realistic because mining activity has increased and supervision has become stronger. As a result, Mining in Prakasam District now plays a key role in boosting state revenue.
At the same time, the District Collector urged miners to follow responsible practices. He said revenue growth must go hand in hand with environmental protection. Therefore, authorities want mining operations to follow clear rules and long-term planning.
Moreover, mining waste management remains a major issue. Many quarry sites create huge waste piles that affect nearby villages. To address this, the Collector asked operators to use scientific methods, set up safe dumping zones, and reduce dust pollution. In addition, officials will continue strict inspections to ensure compliance.
Worker safety also received strong attention. Officials noted that modern equipment, regular safety checks, and proper training can reduce accidents. Hence, they encouraged companies to invest in new technology that improves safety and productivity.
Meanwhile, the administration plans to speed up approvals for genuine applicants. However, it will take firm action against illegal mining. Through transparent systems, the district aims to meet revenue targets and support sustainable development.
The Collector concluded that Prakasam can become a model district if all stakeholders cooperate.
