Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday honoured 149 Scouts and Guides with the Rajya Puraskar Award. This award is the highest state-level recognition presented by the Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides (MBS&G). The ceremony took place at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.

During his address, the Governor praised the discipline and community values of the Mizo people. He said these qualities motivate many others across the country. He also noted that the Rajya Puraskar represents service, perseverance and self-improvement, which form the core of the Scouting and Guiding movement.

Moreover, Singh encouraged the young awardees to aim for the Rashtrapati Puraskar, the highest national honour for Scouts and Guides. He expressed confidence that Mizoram’s youth would continue to excel in every field.

The Governor also highlighted the broader role of Scouts and Guides in society. According to him, their training helps them contribute to environmental protection, community welfare and disaster response. He stressed the need to preserve Mizoram’s natural treasures, including its forests, rivers and clean air.

Officials explained the strict criteria required to qualify for the Rajya Puraskar. Candidates must complete the Tritiya Sopan level, show skill in Scouting or Guiding activities and participate in social service. Additionally, they must pass the Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp, which evaluates their competence and readiness.

This year, 64 Scouts and 85 Guides from the 2024 batch received the honour. Their achievement reflects months of dedication and teamwork. Therefore, the award marks a proud moment for the state and its youth.

The ceremony concluded with a message of hope. The Governor urged the awardees to use their abilities for the benefit of society and to inspire others through their actions.
