Police said the container arrived from Chennai. The shipment was headed to a warehouse in Jakariyapur. Officers acted quickly after they received a tip-off. During the raid, they found around 200 cartons filled with codeine-based cough syrup.
Police arrested Mohammad Jamshed from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. He drove the container to Patna. Investigators believe a smuggling network planned to sell the syrup in several districts of Bihar.
Officials have started a wider investigation. They now want to find the people behind the illegal supply chain.
