Navratri celebrations are in full swing both in India and abroad. In Pakistan, two videos of Navratri festivities have gone viral online. They show people performing traditional Garba and Dandiya dances with great energy and enthusiasm.
One video, shared by Preetam Devria, a Hindu resident of Pakistan, shows an event where participants wore traditional clothes and enjoyed the festival. Another clip from Karachi, shared by Dheeraj, shows a similar celebration.
These videos have delighted viewers, who appreciate seeing Navratri celebrated in a predominantly Muslim country. Social media users sent warm wishes and expressed curiosity about the Hindu community in Pakistan. When asked about vegetarians and Jains in the country, Preetam confirmed their presence. Many viewers were happy to see cultural diversity and traditions honoured across borders, with comments like “Happy Navratri from India” and heart emojis.
Navratri, dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, is celebrated worldwide. This year, it runs from September 22 to October 2. Each day honours a different form of Goddess Durga, from the peaceful Maa Shailputri to the fierce protector Maa Kaalratri. The festival concludes with Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, celebrating the victory of good over evil.
