Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the National Education Policy (NEP) does not emphasise on any single language. Speaking at The Hindu Mind series in New Delhi on Monday (September 22, 2025), he described the NEP as both futuristic and rooted in Indian ethos. Pradhan stressed that the NEP does not emphasise on any language, but rather promotes inclusivity and flexibility.
In conversation with Political Editor Nistula Hebbar and Senior Deputy Editor A.M. Jigeesh, the Minister highlighted India’s readiness for a quantum jump in education and innovation. He said the achievements of the Indian community overseas reflect the strength of Indian academics and institutions.
On the recent hike in U.S. H-1B visa fees to $100,000, Pradhan expressed confidence in India’s talent pool. He added that Indian students and researchers continue to excel globally despite such hurdles.
He also criticized a few States for trying to reduce the Governor’s authority in educational institutions. Responding to questions on dropout rates, Pradhan called for a multimode strategy to keep enrolment levels at 100% up to Standard 12.
The Minister concluded by noting that the NEP provides India with a strong roadmap to prepare its youth for future challenges while staying true to national values.
