The New Government in Bihar is almost finalized as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) prepares for a leadership change in the state. Current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to step down after taking oath as a Rajya Sabha member in Delhi. After returning to Patna, he may resign from the CM post and start the process for forming the New Government in Bihar.
Sources say NDA leaders have already agreed on the structure of the new government. A meeting of NDA legislators will take place after the resignation to select the next leader of the alliance.
According to insiders, the next Chief Minister will likely come from the Bharatiya Janata Party. If this happens, it will be the first time the party leads the Bihar government with its own CM. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is among the leaders whose names are being discussed.
Even if the CM comes from the BJP, Janata Dal (United) may still keep strong influence in the cabinet. The party may receive the Deputy Chief Minister post. The name of Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar, is also being discussed.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new government may take place after April 14, once the Kharmas period ends.
