New Words in Telugu Language: Naidu Urges Linguists to Innovate
Calls for creating new words in Telugu language grew stronger after former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu urged linguists to enrich the language with fresh, meaningful terms. He said society is changing quickly, and the language must grow along with it. Naidu stressed that adding new words in Telugu language will help younger generations connect better with modern life.
Speaking at an event in Rajamahendravaram, he highlighted that several new ideas, tools, and technologies still lack suitable Telugu terms. He encouraged scholars to coin words that reflect today’s lifestyle while protecting the elegance of the language.
Nannaya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Prasanna Sree agreed, noting that changes in daily life, culture, and traditions naturally influence language. She said Telugu has always adapted over centuries, and this evolution should continue with thoughtful scholarship.
Experts at the gathering discussed how new words could make official communication, education, and digital content more accessible. Many felt that without timely updates, young people may drift toward English terms even when Telugu alternatives can be created.
