The Nowgam Police Station Blast killed nine people and injured 29 others late on Friday night on the outskirts of Srinagar. The Nowgam Police Station Blast shook the entire area and created panic across several neighbourhoods.

Officials said the explosion took place inside the police station where explosives seized from a Red Fort blast-linked terror module had been kept after recovery in Haryana. The Jammu and Kashmir Police had stored the material as part of an ongoing investigation.

Personnel from the State Investigative Agency (SIA) were inside the building when the explosion erupted. The agency had taken charge of the case after the terror module’s links spread across multiple states.

The blast triggered a massive fire that engulfed the police station and nearby vehicles. Residents reported hearing the sound several kilometres away due to the strong impact.

Last month, police began probing Jaish-e-Mohammad threat posters that surfaced across Bunpora Nowgam. The posters targeted security personnel and hinted at renewed activity. The investigation soon led to the discovery of a terror module operating across different states.

Authorities are assessing the cause of the accidental detonation and reviewing storage protocols for seized explosives. A detailed investigation is underway as security agencies monitor related terror links.
