Nirmala Sitharaman to Visit Adopted Village in West Godavari on December 28

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit her adopted village, Pedda Mynavani Lanka in West Godavari district, on December 28. During her one-day tour, she is scheduled to review key development works and interact with local residents, officials said on Tuesday.
As part of the visit, Ms. Sitharaman will inspect the sea protection wall being constructed at a cost of ₹13.50 crore. The project aims to safeguard the coastal village from erosion and flooding, which have posed recurring challenges for the local fishing community. Officials will brief her on the progress of the works and related infrastructure measures.
The Union Minister will also inaugurate a drone and artificial intelligence (AI) training programme for fisherfolk. The initiative is designed to equip them with modern technological skills to improve safety at sea, enhance livelihood opportunities, and support sustainable fishing practices. The visit underscores the Centre’s focus on coastal development, skill enhancement, and welfare of fishing communities.
