Nitish Kumar transferred Rs 113 crore to 2 lakh farmers in Bihar to help them recover from crop losses. This money was given as crop loss compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged by floods and Cyclone Motha last year. The chief minister sent the funds directly into the bank accounts of over 2.02 lakh farmers. Nitish Kumar transferred Rs 113 crore to 2 lakh farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer system to ensure quick and transparent payment.
The government released the amount under the Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme. Farmers from 13 districts, including Begusarai, Darbhanga, Gaya, Madhubani and Muzaffarpur, received the support after completing online applications and verification.
At a programme in Patna, Nitish Kumar said the compensation would help farmers prepare for the next sowing season. He added that supporting farmers remains a top priority for his government.
