ONGC Caps Mori-5 Gas Well in Konaseema Within Five Days
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has successfully completed the capping of the Mori-5 gas well in Konaseema district within five days, officials said on Friday. The well had witnessed a major blowout of natural gas on January 5 during a workover operation that was being carried out to enhance gas production.
ONGC teams immediately launched emergency response measures, mobilising specialised equipment and experts to control the situation. After continuous efforts, the gas leak was safely capped, preventing any further risk to nearby habitations and the environment. Officials stated that strict safety protocols were followed throughout the operation.
The blowout had caused concern among local residents, prompting authorities to restrict movement in the surrounding areas as a precautionary measure. ONGC coordinated closely with the district administration, fire services, and police to ensure public safety.
Following the successful capping, ONGC has begun assessing the well’s condition and reviewing safety procedures. The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards during drilling and production activities.
