In a decisive action under Operation Dawn 2.0, the East Siang Police of Arunachal Pradesh arrested a drug peddler and seized a quantity of narcotics during a targeted operation on November 15. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) apprehended Kadum Yomso of Sibo village, Pasighat.
The operation was executed by ADS In-Charge DySP Ayup Boko, supported by SI K. Tangha, ASI (SG) K. Yomso, Ct. T. Ragyor, and Ct. M. Rina (Driver), in close collaboration with Anti-Drug Warrior Pasighat Nini Tamin and his team. During the search, authorities recovered approximately 6.17 grams of suspected heroin and 1.97 grams of suspected ganja, seized in full compliance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and in the presence of independent witnesses.
Following the arrest, the accused and the confiscated contraband were handed over to the Pasighat Police Station. A case—PSGT/PS/C/No.99/2025—has been registered under Sections 20(a) and 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba, IPS, commended the ADS team for their swift and coordinated effort. Reaffirming the district’s zero-tolerance stance toward drug trafficking, he appealed to citizens to remain alert and report any drug-related activities, stressing that community participation is vital for building a drug-free East Siang.
