NCP (SP) President and former Union Minister Sharad Pawar said India’s Constitution, crafted under the leadership of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, has been the key force keeping the country united. He spoke at the inauguration of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Research Centre in Pune on Wednesday.
Pawar pointed out that while neighboring countries like Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh face political instability, India has remained stable. He credited this stability to Ambedkar’s vision, which provided India with a strong constitutional framework that prevented internal unrest.
He observed that Pakistan is struggling with instability, Nepal’s political situation has shifted from being a peaceful ally of India, and Bangladesh too faces unrest. Even Sri Lanka has gone through significant political changes. In contrast, India has followed a different path because of Ambedkar’s contribution in drafting the Constitution.
Pawar also highlighted Ambedkar’s role in shaping India’s development, mentioning projects like the Bhakra Nangal Dam and hydroelectric schemes. He said that Ambedkar’s vision continues to guide India in facing historical and ongoing challenges.
“India’s stability and unity stand as proof of Ambedkar’s wisdom,” Pawar remarked, stressing that the Constitution remains the foundation of India’s strength.
