Paliganj Assembly Seat History and Issues

Bihar elections Paliganj assembly seat history

The Bihar elections Paliganj assembly seat has a long and dramatic history. Once affected by Naxal violence for nearly two decades, this region is still struggling with poor infrastructure and lack of higher education facilities. Despite being close to Patna, development has moved slowly.

Paliganj has seen strong political battles since 1952. Congress dominated in the early years, winning multiple times, while the Socialists and Janata Dal also gained ground. The BJP first won here in the 1990s, and the RJD too has claimed victories. Recently, CPI(ML) has emerged as a powerful force. In 2020, Dr. Sandeep Saurabh of CPI(ML) won, defeating RJD’s Jaivardhan Yadav.

Key election issues in Paliganj remain unsolved. Roads, bypass construction, canal repairs, tube well revival, and traffic problems in Nagar Bazaar are major concerns. Some promises like village libraries and bridges have been fulfilled, but others, like a degree college and bypass road, remain incomplete.

Today, the Bihar elections Paliganj assembly seat is seen as a tough contest. While CPI(ML) may hold an edge with the Grand Alliance, the BJP and JDU from NDA remain strong challengers.
