Patna Water Metro Service to Start in New Year with Modern River Travel

Patna Water Metro Service electric boat ready on the Ganges River

Patna Water Metro Service is set to start in the New Year, bringing a new mode of transport to the state capital. The first electric boat, built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, is now ready and floating in the Ganges. Officials say the Patna Water Metro Service will improve daily travel and boost tourism in the city.

The boat will undergo a final technical inspection in early January. After approval, passenger services will begin soon. The first route will operate between Kangan Ghat and Digha Ghat, covering important riverfront areas of Patna.

The electric boat can carry around 48 seated passengers. It also has standing space for additional travelers. The boat includes air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, fire safety systems, and TV screens for passenger comfort. Large windows will allow travelers to enjoy views of the Ganges during the journey.

This project is part of a larger river transport plan worth around Rs 900 crore. More electric boats will join the fleet in the coming months. Charging stations are also being prepared at major ghats. Officials believe the service will reduce road traffic and offer a clean, safe, and comfortable travel option.
