Pink Bus Service in Bihar Starts on 1st January for Women

Pink bus service in Bihar with women drivers

The pink bus service in Bihar will begin in Nalanda district from 1st January. The service will run only for women, and lady drivers will operate all buses. The pink bus service in Bihar aims to provide safe and convenient travel for women, including housewives, students, and working professionals.

Two pink buses will start operating on New Year’s Day. The transport minister will launch the service. This move follows the success of similar pink bus services in districts like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, and Purnia.

Officials said the service will gradually expand, with plans to introduce over 110 pink buses in multiple districts. Women drivers are being recruited, and they will receive special training to drive safely and confidently.

The state government aims to have all pink buses staffed with women drivers and conductors by March 2026. The initiative supports women’s safety, employment, and empowerment while making daily travel easier. Officials encourage women to use the service for stress-free and secure commuting.
