PM Modi Assam Visit on December 21, 2025, is set to mark a major industrial milestone for the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Namrup to lay the foundation stone of a ₹11,000 crore brownfield ammonia-urea project. The project will be developed at the Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited complex.
The plant will produce 12.7 lakh metric tonnes of urea annually after completion. This output will meet fertilizer demand in the Northeast and reduce import dependence. The initiative is expected to strengthen agriculture and support farmers across the region.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will attend the event. The project is also expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs. It will provide a strong push to Assam’s industrial growth.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister will visit the Martyrs’ Memorial. He will pay tribute to the martyrs of the historic Assam Movement. The movement symbolised the struggle to protect Assam’s identity.
Later, Modi will address a large public rally in Namrup. Officials expect over 1.24 lakh people to attend the event. Preparations, including a temporary helipad, have been completed.
The project is seen as a key step toward industrial revival and farmer welfare in Assam.
