Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday unveiled the Indian Armed Forces Vision 2047 document during the Combined Commanders’ Conference at the Army’s Eastern Command headquarters in Kolkata.
The Prime Minister praised the Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in May after the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. He said the mission showcased the precision, professionalism, and unity of India’s tri-services.
Modi urged the Defence Ministry to adopt stronger measures for self-reliance, innovation, and modernization to prepare for future challenges. He called 2025 a “year of reforms” in defence and stressed the importance of technology-driven solutions.
The vision document outlines a roadmap for a future-ready military. It focuses on strengthening joint operations, enhancing innovation, and using technology to counter emerging threats.
The PM also highlighted the role of the Armed Forces in nation-building, anti-piracy missions, safe evacuation of Indian citizens from conflict zones, and humanitarian assistance during disasters.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh attended the conference.
Modi emphasized that the Armed Forces must adapt quickly to changing warfare strategies and stay prepared for “any eventuality.”
