Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the foreword for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography I Am Giorgia – My Roots, My Principles, published by Rupa Publications. He said it was a great honour to write for a leader he considers a “patriot and outstanding contemporary leader.”
Modi explained he wrote the foreword with “respect, admiration and friendship.” He recalled meeting many world leaders over the past 11 years and noted that Meloni’s values closely match India’s. Her focus on cultural heritage, defending tradition, and engaging with the world equally reflects India’s spirit.
He said Meloni’s life and leadership inspire Indians. Her story celebrates womanhood and highlights her defence of motherhood, national identity, and tradition. Modi praised her personal reflections and resilience in the book.
The original edition came out in 2021, before Meloni became prime minister. The U.S. edition was published in June 2025 with a foreword by Donald Trump Jr. Meloni shares experiences of facing smear campaigns for being a woman, an unmarried mother, and a politician during pregnancy. She proves that children do not limit a career but can strengthen determination.
