Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will hold a press conference on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The announcement follows his earlier claim that he would soon reveal a “hydrogen bomb” of evidence about vote chori.
During the concluding event of his Voter Adhikar Yatra on September 1, Gandhi declared that the Congress would expose shocking details of electoral manipulation. He warned that after these revelations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would struggle to face the nation. Gandhi said the misuse of elections strikes at the very heart of democracy.
Last month, Gandhi cited data from the 2024 Lok Sabha polls to back his charge. He alleged that more than one lakh votes were stolen in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency. According to him, this manipulation showed how vote chori acted as an “atom bomb on democracy.”
Congress leaders have hinted that Thursday’s press conference will showcase documents and statistical evidence to support Gandhi’s claims. They believe these disclosures will strengthen the opposition’s narrative ahead of upcoming state elections.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders dismissed Gandhi’s earlier remarks as baseless. They argued that the Election Commission supervised the 2024 polls fairly and transparently. Still, Gandhi’s persistent focus on vote chori has forced the ruling party to respond.
The growing debate reflects larger concerns over India’s electoral process. Civil society groups, activists, and legal experts have demanded stronger safeguards against manipulation. Gandhi’s press conference is expected to intensify that debate and increase political pressure on the BJP.
As the date nears, anticipation grows over whether the “hydrogen bomb” will deliver fresh proof or remain another political flashpoint.
