A major accident occurred on Monday afternoon in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district when the dilapidated Nai Gaon–Pipariya Road bridge suddenly collapsed during ongoing repair work. At the time of the incident, two moving motorcycles were crossing the bridge. Both vehicles plunged into the gorge as the structure gave way, leaving four people seriously injured. All victims were rushed to the Raisen District Hospital, where doctors said their condition remains critical but not life-threatening.
The bridge falls within the constituency of Health Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel, triggering political controversy. The Congress accused the government of negligence and claimed the incident exposes hollow development claims.
Eyewitnesses said the collapse created a loud noise, drawing locals who immediately pulled out the injured. Traffic in the region has been severely disrupted, causing jams on alternate routes.
MPRDC officials have remained silent, while senior district authorities, including the Collector and SP, rushed to the spot and initiated a probe. The administration assured strict action against those found responsible and emphasized that repair and rescue operations are underway.
