Actress Rani Mukerji won her first National Award for Best Actress for Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway. She dedicated it to her late father, Ram Mukherjee, who always dreamed of this achievement.
Rani said the award marks a milestone in her 30-year career. She thanked her mother, fans, director Ashima Chibber, and producers Nikkhil, Monisha, and Madhu for their support. She also praised the cast and crew from India and Estonia for their efforts during the COVID period.
The film tells the real-life story of Indian immigrants Sagarika Chakraborty and Anurup Bhattacharya, whose children were taken by Norwegian authorities in 2011. Rani said the story moved her deeply and showed a mother’s determination to protect her child abroad.
Rani added that the film celebrates motherhood and the quiet strength women carry every day. She thanked the National Award jury for recognising her work. She hopes the film inspires viewers to honour mothers’ courage and love worldwide.
