Chandrashekhar visited Purnia Gola Chowk in Madhepura to check the ₹72-crore drainage project. He became angry after seeing poor-quality construction. He said the work was not following basic standards. According to him, the drain must first receive brick flooring, then PCC, and finally RCC. But the company started laying RCC directly without removing the water, which made him upset.
The viral clip shows a laborer trying to leave the worksite on a tractor after spotting the MLA. Supporters stopped the tractor and called all workers to the location. The laborer tried to contact the contractor, which further annoyed the MLA, leading to the slap.
Local residents had earlier complained about irregularities in the project. Chandrashekhar said he would not tolerate carelessness in public works. Despite strong political challenges in the last Bihar Assembly elections, he had retained his seat by defeating JDU’s Kavita Kumari Saha by more than 7,000 votes.
