Australia have unveiled their 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against India, beginning October 19, marking the comeback of Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. With Pat Cummins still sidelined due to a lower back injury, Mitchell Marsh will lead the team.
The squad sees some notable changes. Marnus Labuschagne, one of the key players in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, has been dropped after a poor run of form. Glenn Maxwell, recovering from a wrist fracture, has also been ruled out of both the ODI and T20I squads and is expected to return for the Big Bash League later this year.
All-rounder Cameron Green makes his comeback after recovering from back surgery, while Mitchell Starc, Matthew Renshaw, and Matthew Short return to the ODI setup.
For the first two T20Is against India, Australia named Nathan Ellis and Josh Inglis, with Alex Carey and Josh Philippe missing out. Ellis returns after paternity leave, and Inglis rejoins the squad following a calf injury.
Australia’s selections reflect a mix of recovery management and squad rotation ahead of a packed international calendar, including preparations for the upcoming Ashes series.
