Sajjala Slams Government for Rushing Land Pooling Scheme-2 in Amaravati
Government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Friday criticized the State government’s approach to Land Pooling Scheme-2, saying it was being implemented with “undue haste” and without adequately considering the interests of Amaravati farmers. He alleged that the accelerated rollout overlooked key concerns raised by landowners regarding compensation, transparency, and long-term benefits.
Speaking to the media in Vijayawada, Sajjala emphasized that the success of land pooling initiatives depended on building trust with farmers and ensuring fair treatment. He warned that ignoring these aspects could lead to resistance and disrupt the planned development of the capital region.
He also reiterated that Land Pooling Scheme-2 should prioritize participatory planning, clear communication of benefits, and protection of farmers’ rights. According to Sajjala, a balanced approach would not only safeguard farmers’ livelihoods but also ensure sustainable urban growth for Amaravati.
He called on the government to pause the current rushed implementation and engage in meaningful dialogue with the affected communities before proceeding further.
