Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a mutual defence agreement during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s state visit to Riyadh. The pact states that any aggression against one country will be treated as aggression against both.
India responded by saying that this agreement formalizes a long-standing arrangement between the two countries. The Indian government said it was aware of the pact and would study its impact on national security and regional stability.
The agreement highlights the strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. It aims to strengthen defense cooperation and enhance deterrence against threats. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Sharif in Riyadh, where both leaders discussed mutual interests.
This pact comes at a time of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s counterstrike, Operation Sindoor. Despite these tensions, India’s relations with Saudi Arabia have improved. Both countries condemned terrorism and pledged to fight cross-border terrorism together.
