SGPC Slams Punjab Government over the 328 Saroops controversy and calls the issue politically motivated. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami made the remarks while presenting documents to the media.

Dhami accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government of creating drama ahead of the 2027 elections. He said the issue aims to mislead the Sikh community. He clarified that the SGPC has already acted against those responsible.

The SGPC president stated that all 16 accused employees were dismissed under service rules. He said they no longer have any connection with the committee. Dhami added that the SGPC never tried to protect anyone involved.

He explained that the SGPC manages nearly 22,000 employees. Any irregularity gets examined through established procedures. He said rules do not mandate immediate police action in every case.

Dhami also highlighted court observations. He said the Punjab and Haryana High Court upheld SGPC’s disciplinary action. The court dismissed all petitions filed by the dismissed employees.

He accused the state government of politicising a sensitive religious issue. Dhami said the SGPC followed rules in the 328 Saroops matter. He stressed that no guilty individual received leniency.

The issue has intensified tensions between the SGPC and the Punjab government.
