Siddaramaiah Defers to Congress High Command on Leadership Change
Amid speculation about a potential leadership change in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on October 27, 2025, that any decision regarding his tenure rests with the Congress high command.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, returning from Delhi, downplayed the leadership debate, saying, “Once the Chief Minister has spoken, that’s the end of it.” He clarified that his Delhi visit was unrelated to political discussions.
Speculation about a “rotational chief minister” arrangement, where Shivakumar might assume the role after two and a half years, has circulated since the 2023 Assembly elections. Both leaders have consistently deferred to the party’s central leadership for any decisions on the matter.
