SIT Arrests Former TDB Officer S. Sreekumar in Sabarimala Gold Smuggling Case
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold smuggling case on Tuesday arrested former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) administrative officer S. Sreekumar. His arrest comes barely two weeks after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
Sreekumar is alleged to have played a key role in facilitating the movement of gold through Sabarimala temple premises. Officials said the SIT has gathered substantial evidence linking him to irregularities in temple operations and the illegal transfer of valuables.
Following his arrest, Sreekumar was produced before the local court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Investigators indicated that questioning him is crucial to uncovering the larger network involved in the smuggling operation.
The Sabarimala gold row has attracted widespread attention, with authorities intensifying efforts to trace the flow of smuggled items and ensure accountability. The SIT assured the public of a thorough investigation and strict action against all those involved in the case.
