Sources said the Special Investigation Team questioned the actor at his residence in Chennai. The officers focused on his interactions with Unnikrishnan Potti, the prime accused in the case.
Investigators asked Jayaram how many times he took part in pujas along with Unnikrishnan Potti. They also sought details about the nature of their relationship and whether they met outside religious events.
The SIT further questioned him about possible financial transactions between the two. Officials are examining whether any money exchanges had a direct or indirect link to the alleged gold misappropriation.
Sources said Jayaram cooperated with the questioning and answered the queries raised by the investigating team. The SIT did not indicate whether he would be summoned again.
The Sabarimala gold case relates to alleged diversion and misuse of gold offerings and valuables. The probe has widened in recent weeks as investigators trace financial trails and personal connections.
Officials said the investigation is progressing and further questioning of witnesses may follow.
