A Bihar road accident in Sheikhpura district left six people dead and several injured on Tuesday. The crash took place between Eksari Bigha and Maniyanda villages when a tempo full of passengers hit a speeding truck. The Bihar road accident happened during an overtaking attempt, and the tempo was carrying 13 people.
The impact crushed the tempo and threw some passengers onto the road. A mother and son, a grandmother and granddaughter, and two others died on the spot. Four people travelling in an auto also lost their lives. A young boy later died during treatment.
The injured were taken to Sheikhpura Sadar Hospital and then shifted to Pawanpuri Medical College. Families from Maheshpur, Dhamsena, Ekram, Karande, Bengucha and Basant villages were among the victims.
Villagers blocked the road after the accident and demanded quick action. Police teams led by SDPO Dr. Rakesh Kumar reached the spot and calmed the crowd. A search is underway for the truck driver, who fled after the collision.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences and asked officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured. Police seized both vehicles, and an investigation is ongoing.
