Supreme Court Directs ED to Trace Mahadev Betting App Promoter Ravi Uppal
The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to trace Ravi Uppal, one of the alleged promoters of the Mahadev betting app, after learning that he has absconded from Dubai. (The Hindu)
Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju informed the bench that Uppal had fled from Dubai to an unknown location and remains untraceable. The court instructed the ED to coordinate with international agencies to locate him and ensure his presence in ongoing investigations related to the money-laundering case tied to the betting network.
The Mahadev app scam is alleged to have facilitated large-scale online betting and money laundering operations involving multiple countries. The Supreme Court has asked the ED to file a detailed status report on its efforts. The directive underscores the court’s push for swift action in transnational financial crimes involving digital platforms.
