Palnadu District: YSR Congress Party District Executive President Dr. Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy expressed his grief that the state government has failed miserably in the development of Narasaraopet JNTU . Speaking to the media after visiting the university in Kakani village on Tuesday, he criticized the Telugu Desam government for not laying a single brick from 2014 to 2019, when the college was started.
Jagan government started construction with 150 crores
He said that after the YSR Congress government came to power in 2019, construction was started with 150 crores and basic facilities like administration building, hostels, guest house, and roads were provided. He said that although classes started in 2023, there was a delay due to Corona.
The current government is showing complete negligence
He was angry that not a single rupee of funds has been released even after 14 months of the new government coming to power. He explained that ten and a half crores are required for hostel work, and even though revised estimates have been sent, the EC has not been finalized yet. He expressed his concern that students do not have proper facilities and rankers are joining other colleges.
Harassment in the name of jobs is not right
Gopireddy said that it is unfortunate that the local MLA is threatening the principal for jobs. “They are asking to remove old people for jobs. They are not taking any initiative in development works,” he criticized.
Clear demands before reporters
They demanded that two additional buses be arranged for the students’ travel, and that the VC immediately sanction funds and complete the hostel work. He warned that if appropriate action is not taken, large-scale agitations will be launched under the auspices of the YSR Congress Party.
No Communalism in College Development
“There should be no room for Communalism in the development of this college. A portion of the income of JNTU University should be allocated to this college and infrastructure should be improved,” Gopi Reddy clarified.
Several YSR Congress leaders and activists participated in the program.
