The Supreme Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of large-scale “vote theft” across the country. The petition, filed by advocate Rohit Pandey, urged the court to initiate an independent investigation into the issue.

However, the bench refused to entertain the plea, observing that the petitioner could approach the Election Commission (EC) regarding his concerns. When Pandey informed the court that he had previously reached out to the EC but no action was taken, the Supreme Court advised him to explore other available legal remedies instead of filing a PIL.

Accordingly, the apex court dismissed the petition, reaffirming that election-related grievances must first be addressed through the proper institutional and procedural channels established under electoral law.
