Surveys Cleared for Four New Railway Lines in A.P., Says Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha that surveys have been sanctioned for four new railway lines in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant step toward strengthening regional connectivity. Among the proposed routes, a detailed survey has been approved for a 45-km line between Machilipatnam and Repalle, which will offer a direct and shorter link between the two coastal towns.
The Minister said the new surveys reflect the Centre’s commitment to improving rail infrastructure in the State and enhancing passenger and freight movement. Improved connectivity, he noted, would boost economic activity, support tourism, and facilitate faster access to ports and industrial hubs.
Vaishnaw added that the Railway Ministry is prioritising routes that can provide long-term logistical advantages and serve growing population centres. The sanctioned surveys are expected to pave the way for new infrastructure projects in the coming years, subject to feasibility outcomes.
