Police identified the accused as Abhishek Agarwal alias Abhishek Bhopalka. He allegedly called Bhojpur DM Tanay Sultania on WhatsApp and introduced himself as the director of the Enforcement Directorate posted in Delhi. During the call, he tried to pressure the DM to take certain administrative action.

The DM became suspicious because of the caller’s tone and quickly informed the police. After technical surveillance, a joint team of STF and local police arrested the accused from the Buddha Colony area in Patna. Officers also recovered ₹2.61 lakh in cash and the mobile phone used in the crime.

Police said the accused has a history of impersonation and fraud. In 2022, he allegedly posed as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and called the then Bihar DGP to influence a case. Investigators are now checking if he targeted other officials as well.

Police said the Kidnapper Girlfriend Arrested case began when Vikram Kumar, a resident of Sheikhpura district, was called to Pawapuri by the woman. After gaining his trust, she allegedly lured him to the area where her accomplices kidnapped him. The gang then demanded ₹6 lakh from the victim’s family for his release.

The victim’s father informed the police after receiving repeated ransom calls. Acting quickly, police teams traced the suspects’ location and launched a search operation. Under pressure from the police action, the kidnappers abandoned the victim near Pawapuri flyover and fled the scene.

Police later detained the woman and identified her as Sandhya Kumari from Chorsua village. During questioning, she admitted planning the kidnapping with her boyfriend and other associates. Officers have started raids to arrest the remaining accused involved in the case.

Special Judge Rajendra Kumar Pandey passed the order after the prosecution asked for more time to review the case diary submitted in court. The judge accepted the request and postponed further proceedings.

Earlier, authorities had issued warrants against the MLA and others over allegations that they supported land mafias and tried to occupy land using forged documents.

The court has fixed May 7 as the next date of hearing, when the case will come up again.
