The Supreme Court contempt notices target hospitals that received land at concessional rates from the government. In return, these hospitals must reserve 10% inpatient beds and provide 25% outpatient treatment free for poor patients. However, the court found serious violations of these rules.

A bench led by Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and N.V. Anjaria warned hospitals to explain why contempt proceedings should not begin against them. The court also said authorities may withdraw government concessions given to the hospitals.

According to police, the accused couple planned the Ex-Army Man Fakes Death Insurance Fraud to withdraw money from the Army Group Insurance Fund. The wife reportedly submitted fake documents, including a forged death certificate and affidavit, claiming that her husband died from an electric shock.

Investigators said the ex-serviceman, Akhilesh Kumar, joined the Bihar Regiment in 1998 and left the service in 2010. In 2011, his wife filed an insurance claim stating that he died on September 17. Using fake papers issued by a village panchayat, she reportedly received ₹3 lakh along with ₹21,750 as interest for delayed payment.

The fraud came to light during a police investigation in Bihar’s Jehanabad district, where officials discovered that the former soldier was actually alive.

Following a court order, Delhi Police registered an FIR against the couple and a village sarpanch under sections 420, 468, and 471 of the IPC. Police have started further investigation into the case.

Police say Gagan stepped out of his house to meet a friend when the attacker approached him. His father, Vinod Kumar, said Gagan hugged someone moments before the gunman fired a bullet into his head. Admission Schedule and Key Dates

Application forms will be available from December 4. The first list of selected candidates will be announced on January 23, and the second list on February 9. Parents can raise queries regarding point allocation between January 24 and February 3. The admission process will conclude on March 19.

Schools Retain Traditional Priorities

Principals from several schools confirmed they will retain existing criteria. Mallika Preman of Tagore International School said her school will continue giving highest weightage to local applicants, followed by first-born children, siblings, and wards of alumni. Sudha Acharya, principal of ITL International School, emphasized distance, sibling preference, and alumni connections to maintain strong family associations.

Age Requirements and Transparency Measures

Children must be at least three years old for nursery, four for KG, and five for Class 1 as of March 31, 2026. Schools may allow up to one month of age relaxation at the head’s discretion. The DoE also instructed schools to publish admission points, applicant details, and conduct any draw of lots in front of parents, while video recording the process.

Schools cannot charge more than Rs 25 for registration, collect capitation fees, or require parents to buy prospectuses. The department reiterated that any previously invalidated criteria cannot be used.

According to her detailed account shared on X and LinkedIn, the driver allegedly stopped far from the designated drop location and became increasingly agitated when she asked him to continue. Instead of following the correct route, he reportedly sped past the turn and diverted into an unknown lane. When Chaturvedi insisted he stop, the driver allegedly refused and continued accelerating.

Fearing for her safety, Chaturvedi pushed the car door open to force a halt. At that moment, the driver allegedly reached back with one hand on the steering wheel and twisted her arm, causing her to scream in pain. She managed to exit the vehicle with minor injuries.

Chaturvedi said she immediately called 100 and contacted Uber Safety, but claims she received no timely assistance. She alleged that the driver even taunted her, urging her to “go ahead and call the police.” Uber contacted her only after she posted the incident publicly, she said.

Following her social media post, both Uber and the Delhi Police responded. The DCP (South Delhi) confirmed that an investigation has been initiated and assured appropriate legal action. Uber stated that such behaviour is unacceptable and requested trip details to escalate the matter.

According to officials, the searches were conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Locations raided included Ahmedabad, Surat, Gurugram, and Delhi. The probe began after an FIR filed in May 2025 by Bihar’s Special Vigilance Unit against Rishu Shree and others. Investigators allege that Rishu Shree worked as a contractor and sub-contractor in multiple Bihar government departments and paid large commissions to officials to secure contracts.

His name had also appeared earlier in another case connected to IAS officer Sanjeev Hans. The ED believes the latest evidence may help establish a link between the financial transactions and alleged illegal payments.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more actions are expected as the ED examines the seized materials.

The area is known for thick vegetation, making the search effort more challenging. Officials added that the jackal enclosure itself is surrounded by high wire mesh and includes burrows, sheltered resting spaces, and shaded areas. A detailed inspection is underway to determine how the animals managed to find a weak spot.

Another official said initial assessments indicated the jackals did not head toward visitor areas, reducing the risk of any direct encounter. Meanwhile, calls and messages to the Administration Department of the Delhi Zoo went unanswered, raising further questions about preparedness and response mechanisms.
