The talks emphasized sharing best practices and expertise in tackling climate-related challenges.

KwaZulu-Natal, which includes Durban, has been the hardest hit by climate change among South Africa’s nine provinces. The region faces recurring floods, coastal erosion, and infrastructure vulnerability. Kerala, with its experience in flood management and sustainable urban planning, will collaborate with KwaZulu-Natal to develop climate-resilient projects.

Officials said the pact will cover knowledge exchange, technical training, and joint planning of urban infrastructure projects. The partnership is expected to strengthen ties between India and South Africa while promoting sustainable development in both regions.
