The Government Calendar Controversy has sparked a political debate in Bihar after photos of a minister’s family reportedly appeared in an official department calendar. The issue involves Bihar’s Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) minister Sanjay Singh.

Reports say calendars printed by the PHED department carried images showing the minister along with women and children believed to be his family members. The incident quickly triggered criticism from the opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which accused the minister of using government resources for personal promotion.

RJD leaders shared the calendar photo on social media and questioned why a government publication displayed family images. They argued that official materials should focus on public work rather than personal pictures.

The party also criticized the minister and said public money should not be used for such purposes. The controversy comes amid ongoing political tensions in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

So far, the minister has not issued a detailed public response. The Government Calendar Controversy continues to draw attention in Bihar’s political circles.

A minister in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet accused opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav of making loud statements to hide his expected defeat in the upcoming poll.

Cooperation Minister Pramod Chandravanshi said Tejashwi Yadav does not have enough votes to secure victory. According to him, the RJD leader is ignoring the likely loss and targeting Mahagathbandhan candidate Amarendra Dhari Singh for political reasons.

Chandravanshi also took a personal swipe at Tejashwi. He claimed the RJD leader inherited “boastful politics” from his father Lalu Prasad. He said that if Tejashwi truly had political strength, he would have fielded a member of his own family for the Rajya Sabha seat.

Bihar will vote for five Rajya Sabha seats. NDA leaders believe they can win four seats easily, while the contest for the fifth seat remains intense. The political fight between the NDA and the opposition alliance is expected to stay sharp until the final voting.

The state industry department rejected 48 proposals during the first stage of approval because many investors failed to meet required conditions.

Officials said most proposals lacked essential information even after repeated requests. Because of this, the government decided not to move them forward. The cancelled proposals covered sectors such as food processing, manufacturing, healthcare, plastics and rubber, renewable energy, textiles, leather, and wood industries.

Food processing had the highest number of rejected proposals, with 27 projects worth about ₹1241 crore. Several investors also withdrew their applications on their own, while a few projects did not qualify under the state’s industrial investment promotion policy.

Authorities said the review will remove inactive proposals and help the government focus on serious investors who follow state guidelines. The Nitish Government Cancels ₹1426 Crore Investment Proposals in Bihar decision is part of an effort to improve the approval process and attract genuine investments.

He made this statement while speaking about the ongoing strike by revenue department officials and circle officers in the state.

Sinha asked people not to believe rumors about political change in the state. According to him, the NDA Government in Bihar enjoys strong public support and there is no confusion about its stability. He also warned officials participating in the strike to return to work and avoid disrupting public services.

Revenue department employees and circle officers have been on strike, which has slowed work in many offices across Bihar. The government has already accepted resignations from several officers and hinted at new appointments if the strike continues.

The government plans to launch the scheme in cities like Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Darbhanga and Purnia in the first phase. The Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department is preparing the proposal. The state cabinet will review the plan soon.

The government also wants to expand goat farming in rural areas. Poor families may receive an 80–90% subsidy to start goat rearing. This support can raise income and create jobs in villages.

Officials say more than 34,000 families have already received over one lakh goats under earlier schemes. The government will also provide training and technical support to improve milk production.

Bihar panchayat elections may be held on party symbols, signaling a major shift in grassroots politics. The proposal that Bihar Panchayat Elections May Be Held on Party Symbols came up during the state Assembly session. A BJP MLA urged the Nitish Kumar government to allow candidates to contest using official political party symbols instead of standing as independents.

Panchayati Raj Minister said the government is open to the idea. He added that officials will move ahead only if political parties and the public support the proposal.

At present, Bihar conducts panchayat elections without party symbols. Candidates fight as individuals, not as party representatives.

If the government approves the change, local elections could become more party-driven. The current panchayat term ends in December 2026, and the next elections are likely before that. No final decision has been announced yet.

In a strong statement in the Bihar Assembly, a ruling alliance MLA called the Bihar liquor ban failure and questioned the government’s stand. He said the Bihar liquor ban failure has allowed illegal liquor sales to grow across the state. The MLA urged the government to take a clear decision — either enforce total prohibition strictly or restore regulated liquor sales.

He argued that the current system has created confusion. According to him, people can still access alcohol easily through illegal networks. He claimed this has increased corruption and weakened law enforcement.

The remarks sparked political tension within the ruling alliance. Opposition leaders quickly targeted the government and demanded a review of the policy.

Supporters of prohibition, however, said the ban has helped reduce domestic violence and improved social conditions in many areas.

With elections approaching, the liquor policy has once again become a major political issue in Bihar.
