In Bihar, many women who missed education earlier are now turning into role models. On this Teachers’ Day, their efforts highlight how learning never stops. These women, mostly in their 40s and 50s, have restarted their studies with great determination.

Around 40–50 women joined hands to study again. Over the past two years, nearly 80 of them cleared matriculation exams, and more than 100 have enrolled this year. Most work during the day but gather in the evenings to prepare for exams, just like schoolgirls once more.

Their campaign runs through the Vidya Nidhi fund. Each woman contributes ₹5 regularly. Earlier, this money supported children’s education, but now it funds women’s studies. With over 40,000 women contributing, the fund has collected ₹14 lakh for education in Bihar.

Reena (45) and Kanti (50) shared how those who passed last year now guide others. “It was awkward to study at our age, but today we feel proud,” they said. Meena, who leads the campaign, explained that education has given women new confidence beyond daily chores. Their movement is now inspiring many more across Bihar.
