Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet is scheduled to meet on October 15 to deliberate on the High Court’s stay over the government order (GO) pertaining to BC reservations in local body elections. The meeting, to be chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, will focus on the legal and administrative implications of the verdict and explore the next course of action.
Ministers are also expected to discuss the High Court’s observation allowing elections to proceed as long as the reservation limit does not exceed 50%, as per previous norms.
The cabinet will review legal opinions, potential amendments, and strategies to safeguard political representation for Backward Classes while ensuring compliance with judicial directives. Additionally, the meeting may address preparations for upcoming ZPTC and MPTC polls, governance priorities, and state-level development initiatives pending approval.
